Album Review: White Noise

PVRIS: White Noise

Our rating: 10/10

PVRIS (pronounced ‘paris’) are a band from Massachusetts and consist of Lynn Gunn, Alex Babinski, and Brian MacDonald. As of June 2014 they are signed to Rise Records. White Noise is their debut album which came out on the 4th of November.

‘White Noise’ is a delectable pop and rock infusion. The first single they released was ‘St.Patrick’, and it perfectly set the tone of what to expect with the rest of the album. From the clever lyrics, to the upbeat music, it’s instantly addictive. The album as a whole is soft but angry, sweet but explosive. Every beat and every word feels believable, and it has a rare way of catching hold of you. It’s an album that you can both dance around your room to, and curl up in a ball in your bed listening to. Lynn’s voice is somehow both silky and gritty. It’s the perfect blend of catchy and melodic.

The songs are consistently good and the album is very well laid out. It’s been a while since a band has made this much of an explosive entrance into the scene, and it’s rare that a band’s debut album is this polished. Keep an eye on these guys because they are about to get very very big.
