Review: Attack The Day ‘Felons’


Attack The Day released their 5 track EP Felons in April and launched it with a gig on May 20th.  Felons is 17 minutes of varying genres; they flit between grunge, punk, alternative metal, with vocals leaning on the post-hardcore side of things. But they manage this without sounding too disjointed or overwhelming. The snarly vocals are drenched in attitude and passion. The guitars solidify the EP and tie everything together, and there’s a few enjoyable guitar solos dotted around the place.

HamsandwicH announce end of year show!

Irish alt rockers HamsandwicH have just announced their annual end of year show! It will take place at The Academy, Dublin on December 22nd.

After a fantastic weekend at Longitude, as well as numerous other Irish festival appearances, this bunch of mad yokes are riding the waves of success after the release of their third album Stories From The Surface, which has since been nominated for Choice Music Award Album of the Year.

Bitch Falcon – Sea Sessions

As we headed back to Sea Sessions’ small yet vibrant campsite Saturday evening, after a well needed nap and take-away, we arrived just in time to witness the earth rumbling twang of heavy bass at the fingertips of Naomi Macleod, the joining rising tones of Lizzie Fitzpatrick’s guitar and Nigel Kenny’s drums and the turning of heads in “What the fuck was that!?” response. That, boys and girls, was the start of Bitch Falcon‘s set on the North Shore stage.

Fangclub at Sea Sessions

If you’re unfamiliar with Fangclub they basically sound like if Weezer tried to make a grunge album in the 90’s but couldn’t quite get rid of their underlying Weezer-yness. A lot of bands nowadays are dipping their toes into the 90’s sound, it’s having a massive resurgence, and Fangclub are definitely leading the charge. From the American grunge influences, to the alternative 90s rock, this sound is something that seems to come naturally to them.
