Picture This at Sea Sessions

It’s amazing what these guys have achieved in such a short amount of time. Their very first Academy gig sold out extremely quickly, and they’ve continued selling out shows since, including three shows at the Olympia in November, and after seeing them at Sea Sessions it’s easy to see why. Not only do they have catchy, well-crafted, uplifting songs, but their stage show is infectiously fun.

Their success is definitely well-earned and well-deserved, in fact the highlight of the whole festival came at the end of their set when they launched into ‘Take My Hand’. The whole tent sang along at the top of their lungs, and made more noise than for some of the headliners. Despite the hundreds of people watching, the moment felt intimate and powerful. We caught up with them after the show and it’s clear they’re taking their achievements in their stride and are nothing but humble about the whole thing.

Is this your first time at Sea Sessions?

Yep, we’ve never been here before, it’s so nice and intimate.

Did you get a chance to catch any bands this weekend?

We saw Third Smoke and then watched the match!

You have a new song coming out tonight – can you tell us a bit about it?

It’s actually due out in about half an hour. It’s called ‘Let’s Be Young‘. We’re very excited and really hope people will respond well and like it.

You’ve achieved so much in a short amount of time, have you been able to take it all in?

It’s all been a blur… We come from a small town with basically nothing in it, so it feels so strange to us. It’s more during some of the small moments that you realise how far you’ve come but then you have to forget about it and keep going. Stay focused.

How did you feel when you sold out your debut Academy show?

We can’t really remember! We were so busy prepping that we didn’t really have time to bask in it… We took a few minutes out to process it, but with us its always “And now back to work!”.

What’s the one thing you’d like people to take away from your music?

We always want to play uplifting music so people can take something happy from it.

What do you have planned for the future?

LOTS of stuff in the works! Super secret things that will be revealed in due course!

Do you have any advice for anyone who is finding it hard to fit in?

Don’t follow the herd – just do what you want to do. We’re from a small town where there was nothing for us to do, and we just kept doing our own thing. Its hard not to be put down by the majority, but you’ll get a better outcome if you defy the herd.

Their debut EP is out now basically everywhere, check it out, it’s beautiful. It’s number one on the itunes album charts already, congrats guys!
